New additions to the Berden local history collection
These include: photographs of events as below. Folder of houses for sale in 2009 in Berden. House price details from website. Parish magazines for the year. Accounts for village fete. Information on K6 telephone box. Village website material. List of village organisations.
Events in Berden in 2009
British Telecom proposal to remove K6 Telephone Box as not economical. Essex Highways wanted £725 for a Section 50 Licence to keep box on their land. Villager shave pledged money to finance this. When acquired it will be restored.
Building work continues on new house at The Raven, The Street.
Two storey extensions at Brickhouse End and Church View Cottages proposed.
The 'Berden Beaker', an earthenware pot c.2500BC found on village hall site in 1907, was found at Edinburgh University School of Archaeology. It is now in Saffron Walden Museum being restored.
New wooden bus shelter at village triangle. Proposal for a village footpath map to be place dinside shelter.
Village fete raised £10,428.
Work in church in progress sfor new small kitchen and toilet. New screening of south transept - work paid for by grants.
New wooden church notice board on church drive.
New kerb at triangle on Dewes green Road.
Rosemary Tinney retiring as Berden Local History Recorder. Mark Trapmore to take over the position in the New Year.

the RUH Committee passed a resolution at their meeting on 14 January 2010 recording their very sincere thanks to Mrs Tinney for very many years of recording and contributing to the heritage of Berden. She has left a great legacy for Mark Trapmore to take up the reins. A letter has been sent thanking her for her work.
