The
Chesterford Steam-Up is an annual event held in the village streets
to raise money for local charities. It is a very popular event and
attracts a
great number of people each year.
This year was the 17th Steam-Up to be held in the village, and as usual many village clubs and societies took part.
Entertainment included face painting, a street organ, vintage cars, lorries and farm tractors, and steam engines of all sizes. A Jumble Sale was held in the School Hall, and there was an old style fairground on Horse River Green with a cakewalk, helter skelter, swingboats, roundabouts and sideshows.
There was plenty of food available, with both village pubs doing barbecues, and several food stalls on South Street.
With
an aerial flypast provided by the French Red Arrows, and the rain
delaying its arrival till much later, a great day was had by all.
