1841 Census Pt 1 |
|
NOTE: while
researching The Well-ordered Town: a story of
Saffron Walden 1792-1862, I compiled a large collection of
research notes
which I now propose to share via the ULHR website. Please seek
permission,
which would normally be granted for non-commercial use, for copying of
this
material and acknowledge its source as the ULHR website with the web
address [please
bear in mInd these notes were made for my own research purposes, and
need comparison
with the original in order to check accuracy and understand the
context].©Jacqueline Cooper 2008
NOTE: My
purpose in transcribing this was occupational analysis, therefore only
those
with jobs are listed. Ages in the census are rounded off except in the
case of
minors, so the ages given need to be checked with parish registers.
Below the
listing is an analysis of the occupations given – further
analyses relating
jobs to streets, ages and family names would be possible too. Copies of
the census,
registers and much other information can be seen on fiche at the ERO
Archive
Access Point in
Library. Please let me know any errors or additional information: mrsjacquelinecooper@gmail.com
